The Ball State men's golf team took home the first place trophy at the Bullock Collegiate Classic in Dayton, Ohio over the weekend. It finished with a team score of 872, which was 20 strokes better than second place Wright State.-á
Senior Kenny Cook finished first overall with scores of 72-70-70 for a total of 212. It was Cook's first ever tournament victory.-á
"I can't tell you how happy I am for Kenny to compete like he has and finally get to win a tournament," head coach Mike Fleck said.
Freshman Brandon Boomsma finished right behind Cook in second place with scores of 69-75-71. Patrick Wilkes-Krier tied for 10th with scores of 72-76-75. Justin Cross tied for 27th and Mike Kasula tied for 32nd.
"From a team standpoint, we put three rounds together in a total team effort," Fleck said.
Fleck also said he was impressed with the team's consistency.
"Confidence was the key to our victory. We were atop the leader board after the first round, which gave us the confidence we needed to continue our good play."
