The women's track and field team will participate in their sixth meet of the year this weekend when they travel to Indianapolis to take part in the Indy Relays hosted by Butler University.
Also participating in the meet will be Purdue, Depauw, Notre Dame and Toledo among others.
The Cardinals are coming off a second place finish last week at the Miami Invitational, a meet that featured several strong points including a domination of the sprints.
The Cards took first place in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash. Placing in those events were Jennifer Dennie, Patricia Soman and Crystal Winfrey, respectively.
Winfrey's 400-meter dash winning time of 54.72 would prove to be enough to qualify her for the NCAA Regionals to take place May 30-31 in Columbus, Ohio.
Also qualifying for the NCAA Regionals at the Miami Invitational was the 4x100 meter relay team. The relay team finished with a time of 45.94 which would also set a meet record.
Ashley Gillies and Ashlie Coleman took first and second, respectively, in the high jump. Their jumps of five feet seven inches would also give them a bid to the NCAA Regionals.
Soman was also successful in the long jump, in which she placed first and qualified her for the NCAA Regionals. Soman also qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the triple jump.
She placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 40 feet 7 34 inches.
Ball State will attempt to continue their success this Saturday as they resume their 2003 outdoor season.
