Women's tennis starts with a loss

The women's tennis team started its Mid-American Conference schedule with a 5-2 loss Friday against Eastern Michigan and a 7-0 victory over Toledo.

The win against Toledo brought a four-game losing streak to an end and pushed the Cardinals' record to 6-4.

Friday the Cardinals managed two wins in singles play against Eastern Michigan. Sophomore Kara Sullivan won 6-3, 7-5. Junior Melissa Roach also won her match 6-3, 6-0 against No. 54 Lisa D'Amelio, who is the only nationally ranked singles player in the MAC. Before the match, head coach Kathy Bull said D'Amelio would be Roach's toughest match of the spring.

Saturday the Cardinals beat Toledo 7-0, winning all of the singles and doubles matches.
