The Ball State women's golf team will be in action this weekend at the William and Mary Invitational in Williamsburg, Va.
Senior Ali Meyer will be accompanied by juniors Sara Padgett and Lisa Robertson, along with freshmen Carmen Bodine and Katie Sundberg. The Cardinals are coming off their best finish of the year, taking second behind Wisconsin in the Lady Herd Classic.
Coach Shelley Sanders said she was extremely pleased with the play of Lisa Robertson, who shot a 75 on a difficult course. "It was the best round she has played; she really did a great job," Sanders said.
The Cardinals were encouraged by their performance at the Lady Herd Classic, and Sanders hopes they will build off that performance for the William and Mary Invitational.
The brand new tournament has 22 teams competing and will also be a good test of how the Cardinals place in the Mid-American Conference. Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Ohio and Marshall are the other MAC schools competing. Sanders predicts her team to finish in the middle of an extremely tough field.
"I am looking for continued progress because I have all the faith in the world in their ability," she said of her young team. "They will go as far as they want to go."
