Letter to the editor: Facts justify war if one researches

Dear Editor,

While I will always defend their rights to freedom of speech and protest, I do believe that Professor Wolfe and others from the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies have not availed themselves of all facts that are easily accessible about this war in Iraq.

If you do not believe that the war is just, necessary, or that Iraq's weapons of mass destruction provide a direct and immediate threat to this country, I suggest that you read two documents available on the Internet.

The first is a 27-page CIA document titled "Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction Program," and the other is a 55-page document titled, "Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction: The Assessment of the British Government." The easiest way to find them is to use the keywords "Iraq's weapons of mass destruction" in Google, and they will turn up at the top of the list.

Reading these documents convinced me beyond doubt that Iraq has facilities for the production of chemical and biological weapons and unmanned aircraft capable of delivering them to the U.S. homeland.

Saddam Hussein has used them to kill at least 10,000 of his own citizens. You will not only read about these weapons facilities, you can see satellite photographs of them in these documents.

While Iraq does not yet have nuclear weapons, it is likely to obtain them within one to five years if not deterred and defeated in this war.

The facts and the evidence are there for those willing to look at them.
