Dear Editor,
The election time is drawing near and the posters are going up. Yesterday, for the first time, I saw one for Manship.
I must admit; I was floored. There it was. Four white men smiling at me. I started to steam. It made me feel as if this university was suddenly transported back into the 1950s.
SGA should at least try to be an accurate representation of Ball State students. Are we all white? Are we all male? The answer is obviously no. If candidates took this seriously, they would look outside of their fraternity brothers and into the real world.
Don't get the idea that I am just looking at your appearance. I have also looked at your issues. You could use some input from those with experiences unlike yours. My problem does not lie in your color or your sex. However, these factors do influence your life experiences, especially in college. To truly serve the students, you should work with people who can help you see the world from a different view.
I would love to hear back from the Manship slate regarding these things. I hope you take what I say seriously. I am sure there are many more on campus who feel the same way that I do.
