Dear Editor,
After finding the Web site associated with Happy Tree Friends, as seen in the Daily News Features section in the Feb. 24 issue, we were appalled. Not only is the Web site completely inappropriate, but we know for a fact there are some quality Web sites with truly entertaining cartoons.
The Web site we are speaking of is http://www.homestarrunner.com. This site is not only entertaining but is widely viewed by many students here at Ball State. It is also adult-oriented, just as Happy Tree Friends is, but if children were to view it, they would not be exposed to the disgusting carnage of those fluffy animals.
The Daily News , an award-winning collegiate newspaper, has once again followed in the form of the Ball State Party Guide by exposing us all to Happy Tree Friends. While some people might find features such as these to be entertaining or consider them to be "tongue-in-cheek," we simply find them substandard. The Daily News should hold itself up to higher standards.
We are not saying that the paper should fail to publish entertaining articles and features. We are simply asking that you be more tasteful in your reporting.
