Men head to Indy for Butler invitational

The men's track team will travel to Indianapolis this Saturday, where they will participate in the Smith Barney Invitational.

The team is coming off a loss against Notre Dame in a dual meet last week. Scott Allen won three events last week at South Bend: the 500-meter, 200-meter and on the 4x400 relay team, which he anchored.

Paul Panning continued his dominance in the pole vault last week against Notre Dame, and has set a new Ball State record twice.

Ball State saw a large improvement in Jameson Barber, who took two seconds off his time in the 60-meter dash in one week.

"It was nice to see him start to step up," head coach Jim Sprecher said after the Notre Dame Dual last week.

The 4x400 relay team is still undefeated this season, setting a season record last week. The members of the team include Allen, Patrick Bush, Shannon Grady and Jacob Turner.

The Cardinals participated in the Smith Barney Invitational, hosted by Butler University, last year as well.
