Music, food and fur will highlight the inaugural Animal Rescue Foundation's fund-raiser, ARF Aid.
The event will last from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m. Saturday at the Muncie Fairgrounds and feature six bands, as well as food, drinks and beer for $1, said Terri Pansei, director and founder of ARF.
Admission will be $10.
"This will help us stay open for the winter," Pansei said. "It's a fun way to lend support to animals in the community. Life is good, and it's always a good thing to have a place in saving it."
Senior Dean Baker, a volunteer for ARF for nearly five years, said he hopes the fund-raiser will also be a learning experience.
"Students need to learn how to treat animals and that having a pet is a huge responsibility," he said.
ARF was founded by Pansei in June of 1998 and has rescued and placed 5,000 animals since then. It has a no-kill policy.
"Here, it's a big family inside. We just let them run outside and don't even have cages," she said.
ARF is located on 1209 West Riggin. It is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
