Comedian showcases personal feelings

Performer will be featured in Jerry Seinfeld documentary.

University Program Board will once again bring a top comedian to the Student Center Tally tonight at 7:30. Eddie Ifft is said to be the grown-up Dennis the Menace of Generation X.

"He was really funny," said UPB adviser Jan Gaff, who saw Ifft perform at the National Association of College Activities last November. "He talked about a lot of childhood pranks and just had everyone laughing."

Ifft joked that the content of his show would include a lot of nudity.

"The trouble with interviews is that I can't be serious," Ifft said. "I can never answer that question."

He then said his show is about himself and his personal experiences.

"The show is basically what I'm feeling at that moment," he said. "I like to be personal because I'm not like everyone else."

Ifft has appeared on promotions for ABC's college football games, on "The Queen Latifah Show," and on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend."

"Students should get along with him great," Gaff said. "The students who went to see him at NACA (National Association of Campus Activities) really liked him, and when we can all agree on some one, that's really good."

Ifft graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in political science. After an internship for a Senator in Washington, D.C., and a job for his father's insurance firm, he gave stand-up comedy a try and knew it was the place for him.

Ifft bounced around various comedy clubs in New York and has performed with comedians such as Robin Williams, Chris Rock, Kevin Nealon and Dave Chapelle.

"I just want to be funny and get paid," he said.

Ifft will also be featured in Jerry Seinfeld's new documentary film, "The Anatomy of a Joke."

Ifft will appear as part of the UPB Laughter at Half After series. Admission to the event is free.
