Women's basketball is off to a 15-4 overall record and 7-1 in the Mid-American Conference and is in top contention for its first-ever MAC championship.
But to do so, it must get past the Toledo Rockets on Saturday. Toledo and Ball State are tied atop the MAC West and will meet in a showdown of divisional titans at 7 p.m. in Worthen Arena. Head coach Tracy Roller is asking for your support -- she deserves it.
The Cardinals endured a coaching change that many thought would hinder Ball State's climb to the top of the conference. But Roller has picked up right where Brenda Oldfield left off; as a result, the team is gaining more respect after every game.
The Cards are asking for 6,000 fans to attend the game in order to break the MAC single-game attendance record, currently held by the Rockets.
The tickets are free. Even the tickets for non-students are free. The athletic department has handed out more than 30,000 tickets to the community in order to fill the house for a game that will be broadcasted on Fox Sports Ohio.
Roller will even buy your fraternity, sorority or any other student group 25 pizzas to eat while watching the Super Bowl on Sunday. If your group has the most members in attendance, you win.
Pizza and free tickets are nice, but even if this promotion didn't exist, this team deserves your support.
