Track and Field hosts Ball State Tune-Up

Track and field closed its 2016 indoor season at the Ball State Tune-Up with seven individual event wins.

As a team, the Cardinals beat Wright State, 98-85, and IPFW, 101-53, but fell to Western Michigan, 107-80.

Senior Zenée Gadson won the triple jump with 12.10m, earning her a MAC automatic qualifying mark.

Freshman Jazmin Smith also cleared the MAC automatic qualifying time when she won the 60m hurdles with a career best 8.68.

Ball State runners also took the top two spots in the 400m dash. Sophomore Gabby Sims won the event with a time of 57.60 seconds, just ahead of freshman Amber McGee's 57.82 time. Both were career-best times.

Senior Michaela Hull also posted a career best with a 14.34m throw and first-place finish in the shot put and junior Danielle Dahl won the 800m run with a time of 2:14.05.

Senior Marie Lumpkin's 17.91m toss was also good enough to take first place in the weight throw.

Freshman Regan Lewis won the high jump, clearing 1.59m.

In total, 11 Cardinals posted career-best finishes at the Ball State Tune-Up.

Next up are the MAC Indoor Championships held at Akron, Ohio, on Feb. 26 and 27.
