Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be released in North America on November 21 and in Europe on December 5 with a $59.99 price tag. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will be released on December 5 in North America and in January for Europe for $34.99. The announcement was made by Nintendo this morning.
With Smash Bros., Nintendo intends to release its first set of amiibo figures on November 21 in North America and on November 28 in Europe with a second set expected to hit stores in December. Each figurine will cost $12.99.
The amiibo characters upon launch will include Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus Aran, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby, and Marth. The second wave will add Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit, and Captain Falcon.
Amiibo was announced at this year’s E3 event. To activate the figures, players must tap one of the purchasable characters on the Wii U GamePad controller. The figures will function differently for each game. The amiibo compatible games include Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros for Wii U, Mario Party 10, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and Yoshi’s Woolly World.
A GameCube adapter will also be released for the Wii U on November 21. By itself, the adapter will cost $19.99. A special Smash Bros. themed GameCube controller will be available on the same day for $29.99. Additionally, a $99.99 bundle of Super Smash Bros for Wii U, the adapter, and the controller will be for sale.
